DON'T SLEEP ON-IT
Why sleep is so important
The only time your body fully repairs neurons (Nervous System) is when you are asleep, specifically during the deep-sleep stages. These deep sleep stages can occur between 2:00 a.m. and 6 a.m., depending on the time you turn in for the evening. If you are getting quality sleep, your body is making a full recovery and repairs your HPA axis.
Getting enough good quality sleep is the single most crucial strategy you could ever implement to fix your brain and enhance cognition. There are so many different biohack, nutrition tips, and techniques; however, nothing will be better for your system than good quality sleep.
Many apps and fitness devices can assist you in tracking how well you sleep at night. I use the Oura Ring. This has been my go-to tracking device for a few months now. The software in the Oura Ring tracks just about everything with your sleep. Providing quality feedback in several different categories, including your total sleep hours, sleep efficiency, Restfulness, REM sleep, Body Temperature, Deep Sleep, Latency, and Timing. The Oura Ring software does a great job describing the successes and opportunities you have with your sleep and helps you understand whats going on within.
Another good source to study is by Dr. Michael Breus. Dr. Breus is a frequent keynote speaker to audiences around the world. As America’s “go-to“ authority on sleep-related issues, Dr. Breus offers clinical expertise to industry audiences, as well as profound personal advice to his public audiences.
